Our breeding projects

The York Golden Wildebeest consist of multiple herds, with numerous satellite herds on various properties. This keen breeding principle ensures that we continually maintain unrelated bloodlines and the greatest genetic diversity possible. Golden Wildebeest Bulls are often rotated between the satellite herds and a methodical database is maintained where possible of each animals parentage.

The core breeding projects run on our Nkunzi (near Thabazimbi) and Alma farms.

Our high diversification of breeding projects ensures the availability of top quality animals for future breeding and conservation projects.

Our other breeding projects

Roan Antelope

Today we run multiple breeding projects across our two farms in Alma and Thabazimbi.

We pride ourselves on the genetic diversity within our herds, as well as breeding balanced animals. Our breeding bulls are masculine, fertile, and have all the desired traits you look for in a stud animal, including a sporting set of horns.

Our female animals are also selected for fertility, femininity, as well as horn length.

Our breeding philosophy has always been to breed a balanced animals, which is why we have always focussed on more than just a single trait.
